What Does God’s Grace Look Like

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture

When he came and saw the grace of God, he was glad, and he exhorted them all to remain faithful to the Lord with steadfast purpose, for he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord. Acts 11:23-24

Observation

Leaders in Jerusalem sent Barnabas to Antioch, having heard of the revival taking place.
He came and saw. What did he see? I think he saw the evidence of v21 - The hand of the Lord and a great number who believed in Jesus. The grace of God looks like people giving their lives to Jesus.

Barnabas witnessed revived hearts. I believe the same thing he saw in the Christians in Antioch, he exhorted them to continue in. That is: a faithfulness to the Lord and steadfast purpose. The grace of God looks like these 2 characteristics.

Application

What does the grace of God look like in my life?
Being wakened and taking care of Malia at 2AM when she is dehydrated, cold sweats, clammy skinned and sick to her stomach? Going the “extra mile” fixing household items for my wife. Giving my sons grace by doing extra cleaning, even when I work 55-65 hours a week. Or maybe its that text or voice message to a friend in need, struggling emotionally or fighting cancer.

Whatever the case - I pray that His grace abounds in and through me that people would believe in Jesus and grow strong as disciples of Jesus.

Prayer

Dear Spirit of God...
Thank You for Your amazing and abounding grace - that has filled my heart, overflowing. May Your grace be seen through me - through my words and actions. Help me to be faithful and steadfast in purpose for Your great glory!
