He Never Fails

Tim Savage

Scripture

29“Yes, come,”Jesus said.

So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus.30But when he saw the strongwind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted.

31Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him.“You have so little faith,” Jesus said.“Why did you doubt me?”Matthew 14

Observation

The disciples had just witnessed Jesus performing the miracle which fed well over 5,000 people with just 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread. That same night the disciples are on a boat and got caught in a storm. Now many of them were seasoned fisherman, so these must have been powerful and dangerous conditions to frighten them.In the midst of their storm their Savior appears, walking on the water.I am often like the disciples.I witness God performing miracles in my life, but the next moment I’m crying out to Him to save me from the present storm.I want to grow my faith so that I can thank God for the storms because then I can sit back and enjoy the miracle that He will provide to save me.“For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope.”

Time and again I have prayed for deliverance and every time God has provided.

Application

I want my faith to be bigger than my storms.I want to be able to give God my worries and walk in the faith that nothing will happen to me that He hasn’t allowed. This does not mean that storms won’t hit, in fact, they will definitely will.Storms remind me of my Savior’s power and love. When He provides for me over and above anything I could have done for myself or when an answer comes that was completely out of my control it proves that God is in control.I am so grateful for these times that He dramatically demonstrates His love.

I am so prone to take credit for success, so when God saves me from defeat I can take no credit and give Him all the glory. It brings me such deep joy knowing that He orchestrates all things together to work for my good.I don’t always understand why I have to face certain challenges, but God knows why and He has a plan, so I can have hope.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for your protection and provision.Forgive me when my faith fails. You never fail me.I love You.

In Jesus name,

Amen
