Who’s House you building?

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture

The LORD said to Moses,“See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with ability and intelligence, with knowledge and all craftsmanship, Exodus 31:1-3 And behold, I have appointed with him Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. And I have given to all able men ability, that they may make all that I have commanded you: Exodus 31:6

Observation

Bezalel and Oholiab were 2 of many God anointed, gifted and used for His service and glory. It is God who gave able men intelligence, knowledge, ability - to craft and use their skills - as He instructs and commanded Moses. All of this specifically create, build and craft furnishings for God’s Tabernacle.

Being filled with the Spirit of God, to me, marks this project as a spiritual-God assigned task. And a task it was! But I’m finding myself more deeply reflecting on THE LORD’S ROLE in this huge Tabernacle undertaking. It is THE LORD who gives skill and intelligence to ”do work.“

“Bezalel and Oholiab and every craftsman in whom the LORD has put skill and intelligence to know how to do any work in the construction of the sanctuary shall work in accordance with all that the LORD has commanded.” Exodus 36:1

Application

How many of my or our churches “God-Projects, Plans and Programs” are of God? I would hope to say...ALL. Yet, I find people being tired, getting frail, fried and burned. Maybe we are doing what God has called us to do - but we are not filled with the Spirit of God? Could we have and use our God given intelligence, craftsmanship, knowledge “for Him” - yet be “doing without Him?” Without being filled with His Spirit?

  • The communication of Vision excites and ignites us.
  • But sometimes carrying out of the Mission creates fights within us and around us.
  • We Christians can tend towards being more competitive than cohesive.
  • Self righteousness, self seeking-approval and affirmation can fuel motivation to perform and succeed, as opposed to being motivated to please and worship Jesus.

MAYBE THE QUESTIONS IS - WHO’S HOUSE ARE WE BUILDING?????

Prayer

I want to more sincerely, deeply, wholeheartedly, passionately commit my heart, mind and life to know God my Daddie, Jesus and the Spirit of God! It is Him I’m after. It is Him I long to be filled with. I love the doing, the vision, the mission to build, create, craft, use my God gifted skill, intelligence, knowledge...
BUT WITHOUT HIM I AM NOTHING! AND CAN DO NOTHING!
