Growing Leaders

Richard Waialeale

Scripture

Titus 1:5
The reason I left you in Crete was that you might straighten out what was left unfinished and appoint elders in every town, as I directed you.

Observation

Paul left Titus in Crete to do two things: Setup structure and develop leaders. When you experience to power of God through the Holy Spirit, you will also feel the desire to for Spiritual Growth and to preserve what God is doing in the church. Developing leaders is to establish order and structure, at the same time growing spiritually closer to Jesus in our character. This was the work that Paul left for Titus, and what the 6 things I see would be excellent for me to understand in structure and leadership:

Application

There are six leadership principles in Titus(1:5) that I can apply to my own development plan for leadership:
1. Choose people that I can believe in and have the potential to develop into leaders.
2. Cultivate the model of Jesus.
3. Creating ministries that move people closer to Christ.
4. Timely evaluation (report card) and management.
5. Communicate the vision.
6. Celebrate.

Prayer

Father I pray for Your guidance and leadership to mirror in this developing of next generation of leaders. Show me through Your Word the everlasting was that will speak volumes to the people I mentor. Amen.
