Caring and Nurturing Each Other

Richard Waialeale

Scripture

John 15:12-13 (NIV)

12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

Observation

I’ve read this command time and time again in different sections of the Bible and what I feel Jesus saying is the caring and nurturing of people around me. I cannot love what I’m not physically able to be a part of. But for those that God places in front of me or around me, I must care for them by my actions just as Jesus does. That’s the love of Jesus.

Application

I’ve alway thought it a simple action step but there are those that will test my patience and stretch my capacity - am I ready to be stretched?

What I realize is if I do anything in this lifetime while I’m walking the life of a Christian, I need to love as Jesus loves (meaning to care and nurture). I should create a phrase that I always repeat in my head wherever I go. Something simple like, “Love like Jesus,” and just keep repeating this to myself - “Love like Jesus, Love like Jesus.” For the rest of my life I will, “Love like Jesus.”

Prayer

Lord my prayer is to care and nurture the people that’s right around me and I thank you for placing them in my life. I have an opportunity to be like You in the most important way, and that is to Love. I want to and choose to be in the best image of God so I Love like Jesus. Thank you for teaching me to be in Your image. Amen.
