Cry Out In Righteousness!

Carl Higashi

Scripture

2 Samuel 22:7, 24-27, 31

7“In my distressI calledto theLord;

I called out to my God.

From his temple he heard my voice;

my cry came to his ears.

24I have been blamelessbefore him

and have kept myself from sin.

TheLordhas rewarded me according to my righteousness

according to my cleannessin his sight.

To the faithful you show yourself faithful

to the blameless you show yourself blameless,

27to the pureyou show yourself pure,

but to the devious you show yourself shrewd.

31“As for God, his way is perfect:

TheLord’s word is flawless;

he shieldsall who take refuge in him.

Observation

Life will be filled with challenges! David reminds me to call out to God in time of any distress. From heaven His dwelling place in heaven, He will hear my calls out to him. My cry out to Him will be heard.

Why does David's prayers heard by God? Because he has been blameless in God's eyes. He has kept himself from sin. The Lord rewarded David time and time again due to him living righteously in the sight of God. If we are faithful, God will always be faithful, to those living righteously, He will be seen as righteous, to those who live a blameless life, He will be seen as blameless, to the pure, God is seen as pure, BUT to the devious or underhanded He will be clear to judge them.

Application

There are many ways distress may fall upon me. An unkind word from someone, a text that sounds mean spirited, an action or gesture that seems colder than that infamous "cold shoulder".

The Lord speaks through the words of 2 Samuel, and reminds me that my first response to any such attack is to quickly cry out to the Lord in prayer. But even prior to that an inspection of my heart, a spiritual heart check must always be done. David in his distress confidently knows that his heart was in the right place with God and because of this his confidence that the Lord would hear his prayers were never in doubt! God's justice will always prevail. I just need to trust in Him and live this out daily!

Prayer

Gracious Heavenly Father, thank you for the guarantee of hearing my cry out of my prayers as I am faithful to be blameless, confessing and repenting of my sins. Thank you for giving me a clear vision of how to live faithful, blameless, and pure because this is how you are. Thank you for protecting me as I run to You for first correction then protection is assured. Thank you for your justice, which is perfect, I must trust in you and your ways and timing.

Father your love is so amazing and your discipline can be so gracious, and your love and blessings are never ending for eternity. Thank you Lord! I love you!

In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
