What does Spiritual Progress look like?

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture
So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, [2]complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. [3]Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. [4]Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Philippians 2:1-4
Observation
This instruction is not just a list of qualities, but heart choices. Paul encourages Christians to with a central theme and message of selfless, unselfish concern and humility for others. One of the goals he has in mind is for the church to progress in their faith. What does spiritual progress look like?
Application
When I think of the kind of love I’d like to have and demonstrate before my wife, kids and others - I can’t help but repositioning my heart and soul according to this passage. The same mind, love, unity and being one in mind can only happen when I am participating in the Spirit. How this Same mind, love and unity thing is lived out, is through unselfish humility and seeing others more significant than myself. Ouch - that’s tough to do.

I will be different by serving others interests and needs. I gotta keep waging war against my selfishness and pride!
Prayer
Dear Jesus - thanks for your encouragement. I need to be encourage in and by You and abiding in Your Spirit - all the day long. Can you please help me to walk in the Spirit every second of the day? Is that even possible Lord. I know You are able. May my heart be willing :) Help me to make progress as Your disciple. Love YOU JESUS!
