Wanna Be A Winner

John Tilton

Scripture

Revelations 3:19-22 Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne. Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

Observation

Jesus is clear that because of His love, He will at times allow us to be disciplined to push away from our sinful ways and follow in obedience to Him. Our earnest repentance is what Jesus seeks as He stands before us awaiting our response to join Him at His table of love and eternal life. When we are perseverant to win over sin and obey in obedience, we will sit with Him, just as He sat with the Father on His throne.

Application

Life and walking in God’s will can be a challenge and battle with the enemy’s temptations and the carnal ways within me. It is often that I know what I am called to do in Christ, but fall short by giving in to sin and mistakes. I am thankful for the grace of Jesus Christ. Yet, these words of Jesus remind me that I want to be victorious and win the race and journey that He has set before me, that I will be earnest and sincere in my repentance, accepting His discipline and growing stronger through Christ to resist the temptations and carnal ways of man. I want to be sitting with Christ and the Father.

Prayer

Dear Lord, strengthen me each day to obey you and your will, accepting your discipline in love that I may be stronger to be victorious over sin, strongholds and satan. I pray that my repentance would be sincere by way of follow through on my part, instilled and enabled by you working in and through me. I wanna be a winner for Christ!
