God's Word Shines In Us

Richard Waialeale

Scripture
Psalms 12:6 (NIV) 6 And the words of the Lord are flawless, like silver refined in a furnace of clay, purified seven times.
Observation
In the midst of all the wickedness happening around us, the Word of the Lord shines through, inside of those who walk in His ways. I remember reading about the process of refining silver. The silversmith will place in the middle of the fire, where the heat is the hottest, the silver. He has to sit there holding on to a long pole on one end and watch over the silver that’s in the fire, as the refining process takes place. If the silversmith leaves the silver over the fire too long, the whole process can be destroyed. But as he watches this purification process take place, the silversmith knows just the right time to remove the silver from the intense heat. How do you know when it’s purified? The answer is when you can see your image in it.
Application
The lesson for me in Psalm 12(:6) is when God’s Word starts to work inside of me and I start to put His Words into action in my life - all of a sudden I begin to look more and more like Christ and less of me. The refining process works in me and the Word of God purifies my ways to His ways. I must allow the Word of God to purify my heart, mind and soul to the point I now walk, talk and even smell like Jesus.
Prayer
Lord thank you for Your Word that is living and active, sharper then any double edge sword, piercing my heart, soul and mind, affecting me that I walk in Your ways. Amen.
