Lead by Example

Calvin Kochi

Scripture
3Uzziah was sixteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Jecoliah of Jerusalem. 4And he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, according to all that his father Amaziah had done. 5He set himself to seek God in the days of Zechariah, who instructed him in the fear of God, and as long as he sought the Lord, God made him prosper.
Observation
It is amazing that a sixteen year old would have the wisdom and understanding to run a country, and he did it for fifty-two years. How could a boy that young have known how to lead a nation? Isaiah gives me some great insight. Uzziah father Amaziah was a great leader and father who lead by exampling and teaching. Uzziah also had a great mentor and teacher. They both had a love for the Lord, and both were great teachers.
Application
As I read this I automatically thought about my sons and the example that I left them to follow. How I lead and modeled is so important. Being a good role model is so important to the health and welfare of our children. What I also thought what kind if influences did I hand around with, were they like the Zechariah’s. That took the time to mentor our children. When I look back I realize how important it is for me to invest in the future of my family. I realize how important it is to lead by example. Rather then by words that can’t be backed by actions. My actions play an important role how well I will do, and others will do. I must make consciences effort to have my actions match my faith.
Prayer
Heavenly Father teach me to be a better dad and grandfather I need to be the kind of influence and example that build Godly character
