Our Lumber Jack Lord!

Jon Burgess

Scripture
33See, the Lord, theLordAlmighty,
will lop off the boughs with great power.
The lofty trees will be felled,
the tall ones will be brought low.
34He will cut down the forest thickets with an ax;
Lebanon will fall before the Mighty One.
Isaiah 10:33-34
Observation

God asks His people in verse 15, "Does the ax raise itself above the person who swings it?" Imagine their relief and comfort when the Lord tells them that the ax of judgment that was felling them has now been turned to their enemies because they have turned back to Him. Lebanon was known for its mighty cedars, but there is One is mightier still. God will do what we cannot when we "truly rely on theLord,the Holy One of Israel. (vs.20)" What we look up at God looks down on. What we consider impossible to pass God can clear the way. What have no strength to accomplish our Mighty One will overcome on our behalf!

Application

I saw my Lumber Jack Lord cutting down forests on behalf of my friends yesterday. I have to take a moment and praise Him for all He did. While I had my day off God was hard at work on behalf of those who have relied fully on Him. Kione & Beka Alford welcomed beatiful baby girl Nala Kalaule'aokeakua (The Peace of God) into the world. Leslie Kiriakos had all the cancer removed from her body and is in recovery. Kelly and Amy Lawson put an offer in on a dream house in Kaneohe and it was accepted! Pastor Pat & Tarah McFall began to move into their new house in Hawaii Kai that didn't even dare to dream could happen. These are just four examples that are in my circle of relationships that reveal the awesome power and care of my God. I wonder what God was cutting down, cutting through, and paving the way for in your life? I'd love to rejoice with you if you'd like to share. When I see the faithfulness of God in the lives of others it strengthens my faith. When I intentionally stop and look to see how God is moving it ensures that I'm not missing the forest for the trees. I don't want to miss what the God of the Universe is doing on this rock in the middle of the ocean. It's a sight to behold and it draws to rely fully on my Lumber Jack Lord who know no limits!

Prayer

Lord, You are so good to me. Thank You for all you did yesterday in the hearts and lives of my friends. I approach You with expectation at what You have in store for today! I can't wait to see how You chop down the trees of impossibility right in front of me. I'm looking to see You turn my limits into lumber, my forests into fields and the hard things into a home! Only You can do what I saw You do yesterday. I come this morning and rely completely on You!
