Feed Your Mind

John Tilton

Scripture

Proverbs 8:9-11

To the discerning all of them are right;they are upright to those who have found knowledge. Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold, for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.

Observation

These scriptures are a great reminder that knowledge, lessons and wisdom are oh so more important then the pursuit of riches. Although one often seeks and is drawn to desire and obtain riches, the fact remains that worldly possession and treasure does not compare with the benefits of knowledge, lessons learned and wisdom.

Application

It is with knowledge, lessons learned and wisdom that we can live a more peaceful and fulfilled life, full of hope and promise. I realize that society through ads and multi-media often causes us to seek the latest fad, the latest technology that would supposedly make life easier, or a treasure that will sparkle. However, these things will and do tarnish. We also tend to lose interest in new possessions that will eventually become old possessions. However, feeding the mind with knowledge, lessons learned and wisdom never gets tarnished or old. But rather will enable one to keep one’s mind refreshed and new with the ability to process and reason. It is a feeding of the soul rather then feeding the flesh of possessions.

Prayer

Dear Lord, please guide me to continue to feed my mind and seek knowledge, lessons learned and wisdom rather then worldly possessions and treasure.
