Loving All The Same

John Tilton

Scripture

Leviticus 19:15

“‘Do not pervert justice; do not show partiality to the poor or favoritism to the great, but judge your neighbor fairly.

Observation

Very clear words from the Lord not to show partiality or favoritism to others, but to be fair to all.

Application

Partiality & Favoritism – I often think that I do indeed treat all in the same way, not showing partiality because of my relationship with the Lord and what I know is His will. However, do I really? Are their times where I unconsciously treat those who are less fortunate, or of whom I don’t have or will gain a benefit through, or those who are odd … differently then how I treat those that are held in high esteem, or of whom I can find benefit? How do I treat those who are cool as opposed to those who are deemed as odd? Even in my busy schedule and having much to do in a limited amount of time, I know that because of who I am in Christ, my call as a pastor and what should be my natural love and respect of others, that I take the time and effort to treat and relate to all in the same way. If I am to give an esteemed person time and attention, so to should I give the less fortunate, needy or odd. Jesus ministered to all, the esteemed as well as those who were detestable in the eyes of others. He came for the lost. May I always be reminded to show the love of Christ by taking the time to love on and give my time to the less fortunate.

Prayer

Dear Lord – thank you for reminding me to love all as Jesus loved all and treated all the same with His love, grace and hope.
