Building Bridges

Richard Waialeale

Scripture

Ruth 3:1 (NIV)

1 One day Naomi her mother-in-law said to her, "My daughter, should I not try to find a home for you, where you will be well provided for?

Observation

When I look at this story of Ruth in the Bible, it is primarily about the engagement of Ruth and Boaz. But the underline sacrifice and engagement I feel is really about the love and dedication of Naomi. For all the things that Naomi did to help build the bridge that would later lay the foundation of the next generation. She sacrificed her life, never thinking of herself, but the future of Ruth. What I see in this story is the dedication and sacrifice of ones own life to build and set the stage for the next generation.

Application

I believe God places people around me to mentor, to raise up and pour my life into, so that other people can become the leaders that God wants them to be. If not for me, then God will find and use someone else to fulfill His purposes. I need to get in the game and be a part of sacrificing my life to help raise up the next generation of leaders. Naomi did not think of only herself, but the future of her sister in-law, which would later build the bridge of the next generation of kings, leaders and then parents of the king of all kings and the Lord of Lords.

Prayer

Lord I pray for Your perspective to see what You see in the people You place around me to help build up in Jesus Name. Amen.
