Scripture

[16]Then the LORD said to Moses, “Gather for me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people and officers over them, and bring them to the tent of meeting, and let them take their stand there with you. [17]And I will come down and talk with you there. And I will take some of the Spirit that is on you and put it on them, and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, so that you may not bear it yourself alone. Numbers 11

Observation

I cannot imagine thousands upon thousands upon thousands of people, all grumbling against Moses, then crying because they are experiencing hardship, pain and the judgement of God. Things aren’t going even close to ”their way!“ Moses is desperately frustrated, angry and has a heart to heart conversation with God. He is at the point of just wanting to die.

The exhaustion of leadership is very real. I see it all around me. Leaders get overwhelmed and frustrated. They themselves begin grumbling and crying out to God, because the people God gives them to lead are draining.

Application

So what about me? Oh yes, I’d be a lying fool if I said I don’t grumble, cry and complain to God. One of the dangerous places for me to be in is the place of exhaustion. It’s an exhaustion of having to handle people’s problems and complaints.

My take away is to continue investing in the great leaders God has placed around me. I pray that I would have the wisdom and disciplines to encourage and equip the young men and women God has placed in my life. They will be of help to bear the burden of the hurting - because YOU IMPART YOUR SPIRIT UPON THEM!

Prayer

Thank you Holy Spirit of God! You are so good. Please impart a special anointing on the Pastoral leadership team and others you desire to raise up around me - through me. Thank you for the honor of being used - to invest in these. You are the God who imparts Your anointing upon them.
