I’m a Weak Wuss!

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture

When Pharaoh drew near, the people of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them, and they feared greatly. And the people of Israel cried out to the LORD.

They said to Moses, “Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? What have you done to us in bringing us out of Egypt?
Exodus 14:10-11

Observation

What a paradox? The people crying out to the Lord, then blaming Moses! Seriously consider putting yourself in this time and setting! Oh God...You are so loooooong-suffering! After 430 years of bondage for the Israelites, their first experience of threat and fear is this attitude!?!? After experiencing the hand of God, seeing His judgment through the plagues... this is where their faith is at?

Ex 12:37 mentions 600 thousand men plus women and children made the exodus out of Egypt! Some scholars suggest that there were approx. 2 million Israelites not too mention tons of animals, belongings, etc!

I cannot imagine being Moses! The chosen and appointed leader to shepherd this gargantuan entourage out of their comfortable life of bondage. Or at least that seems to be their attitude: (v12)
Is not this what we said to you in Egypt: ‘Leave us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.”

And Moses reply...(v13-14)And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”

Application

My life and heart application is simple. I can relate to the lethargic, untrusting, minuscule faith of the Israelites! I’m such a wuss! I repent! Dear Lord...I repent for my weak, sinful grumbling and unbelief... in attitude and heart! Have mercy on me!!

Prayer

Dear Mighty, faithful, loving and merciful God!!!
I cannot imagine or comprehend Your ceaseless mercy and love...yet I experience it daily! How can my simple and meaningful, sincere, heart-felt thank you... mean anything to You? Dear Godhead - Thank You all! I deeply worship and fear Your holiness and intimately long for You to be pleased with me. O God!! O God....!!
