Make Time For Praise Time

Jon Burgess

Scripture

“One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭17:15-19‬

Observation

After years of living outside the gates because of their leprosy they were healed. They could return to their family, friends and normal life. They didn't want to wait a single moment to let everyone know what had happened! God had healed them! Only one returned to Jesus. Only one fell on his knees before the source of his healing. Only one took the time to praise Jesus.

Application

Its so easy to rush from one victory to the next. Our God is moving and doing so much it's easy to just keep going. This morning I want to make time for Praise Time! I don't want to be like the other 9 who run off with blessing and don't stop to thank the One who blessed! God gave me the privilege of planting two churches in the Seattle area. New Hope Seattle is about to celebrate its 12 Year Anniversary under Pastor Jake & Racheal Poetzle's leadership. New Hope North City just celebrated its 6 Year Anniversary under Pastor Albert & Heather Moore's leadership. New Hope Legacy I about to celebrate their 11 Year Anniversary under Pastors Makana & Tammy Delovio. Just this past week my Young Adult Pastors at New Hope Seattle and New Hope Legacy just planted a brand new church, Ignite Chapel, in the University District of Seattle! Pastors Ryan & Janelle Kim just texted me: "Look what you helped make happen. 120 at our first services, 2 first time decisions for Christ, multiple rededications, 1 water baptism and 7 people on our core leadership team. Your mentorship is still a huge part of me. I say the things to my team that you said to me."

Prayer

Ryan took the time to thank me and I want to take the time to thank You. I don't deserve the opportunities You have given me, the people that I have been able to serve under and alongside, the lives that I've seen change right in front of me. I fall on my knees this morning and praise Your Name above every other name because this all came through You! Let me never get so busy that I don't take time for praise time! Let me never get so busy that I don't thank those around me who have spoken so much into me! I wouldn't be here if not for them. I wouldn't be healed if not for You!
