I pray this Prayer!

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture

that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, [18]having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, [19]and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might Ephesians 1:17-19

Observation

The opening of Paul’s letter is Powerful!

The recognition of who God is, what He’s done for us, how He views us in light of Jesus is unimaginable! The beautiful interaction of the Godhead is described - God the Father who fulfills His eternal purpose in us through Jesus, sealed by the Holy Spirit as a guarantee.

All prayers noted in the Bible are incredible. But I’m drawn to this powerful, life transforming prayer Paul prayed for the Christians in Ephesus. The content of this prayer is everything a believer needs to live a transformed life - to live for the glory of God. Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit, writes of the confidence of who God is, what He’s done to redeem and secure His people and all creation into Oneness with Him.

Application

I really want to live for the glory of God. To honor Him with all I am - in word and deed. I realize how imperfect I am and totally depraved and incapable of this in my !own efforts. I know that I must continue to submit my thoughts, motives, desires, sins - EVERYTHING TO HIM -in order to live a surrendered life.

But today, I also give God thanks and all praise for hearing my hearts prayer in ch 1. especially v17-19.... these are the words I pray...

Prayer

...that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give TO ME the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, [18] having the eyes of MY heart enlightened, that I may know what is the hope to which he has called ME, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, [19] and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward ME who believe, according to the working of his great might! I love You - Daddie, Jesus and Spirit of God!
