Fool In The Rain

Richard Waialeale

Scripture
Proverbs 26:4-5 (NIV)4 Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you will be like him yourself.5 Answer a fool according to his folly, or he will be wise in his own eyes.
Observation
There are times when I must control myself and not be drawn down to a fool’s level (v. 4). On the other hand, at times I can use the fool’s language to refute the fool so he does not become conceited (v. 5). Wisdom is needed to determine when to apply verse 4 and when to apply verse 5. ILLUSTRATION: An official or referee must always keep his or her focus on the players and coaches. Never allow your attention to move into the stands or allow the fans of the game to affect the way you call the game. Someone once said, “If you allow yourself to listen to the fans, you will soon become one of them.” The point is to keep your head in the game and not in the stands.
Application
This Scripture describes how it’s so easy to get when driving in Honolulu traffic. I must not allow myself to be influenced by people in a rush driving erratic causing me to shift my attention elsewhere. I must always bend back to the Bible and find Scriptures that get me back to Jesus. 1John 4:4 You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.
Prayer
Father thank you that You love me enough to not see me stay the same and change me from glory to glory. Thank you for Your Word that brings me closer to Your Kingdom purposes. Amen.
