His Everlasting Cup

John Tilton

Scripture

John 4:13-14

Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

Observation

Jesus words to the woman at the well was so succinct with truth about the key to life; drink and receive what Jesus has to offer and we will overflow with abundant and eternal life, for the things of earth as provisional as they may be, will never quench our thirst or hunger for the heart, the soul, the peace, the spiritual and eternal.

Application

On a daily basis, I find myself entwined and dealing with the matters of daily living, responsibilities, relationships and self; for these things are a fact of life while I am here on earth. They are reality and tangible. Yet, I am reminded that what matters is taking and receiving from the cup that Jesus offers to fill my heart, my mind, my soul and my relationship with Him that will bring true life and fulfillment to me, where my perspective and therefore subsequent dealing and living through daily living, responsibilities, relationships and self will change and be an experience of new life.

Prayer

Dear Jesus, may I be intentional to make time each day to partake, drink and receive from you everlasting cup of life, that I truly will not thirst or hunger for the true and eternal things of life, knowing that as I am obedient, the things of life will become endurable, enriching and edifying.
