To be like the Jesus in Paul

Rod Shimabukuro

Scripture

As they went on their way through the cities, they delivered to them for observance the decisions that had been reached by the apostles and elders who were in Jerusalem. [5]So the churches were strengthened in the faith, and they increased in numbers daily. Acts 16:4-5

Observation

Following the journey of Paul is more than intriguing. The wisdom in which he handled himself, conflicts, interacting with and instructing new converts, converted Pharisees, co laboring disciples is something to be carefully watched and followed. Paul’s work of Strengthening churches, setting spiritual standards - while enduring conflicts, sharp disagreements - resistance among his own and outside of his camp - must have been grueling. HIs leadership wisdom to understand removing burdens of the law of circumcision - yet having Timothy circumcised as a young man for the sake of ministry.

What a pace! What a race Paul ran!

Application

Today - I’m filled with longing to know the Spirit of God - be filled with the presence of His wisdom continually. While knowing that I have Him, Jesus who is wisdom, there is a growing in knowing and understanding that I must give myself to. I find myself this morning yearning to know the Word of God - to hide it in my heart - to know it in my mind - to memorize the Word. I know God is convicting me of this very area - yet I spend my time unwisely. Too often watching too much sports, spending too much time on strategizing for ministry -

Prayer

Oh Lord God!

I am so humbled before You - realizing that I'm in a race that will require a death to myself liek Paul exemplified! Oh God.... PLease grace me with a heart willing to die for the sake of the Gospel of Jesus! I dont' know that I'm there. Even with Scriptures tatooed on my body, the name of Jesus inscribed on me - IS YOUR NAME INSCRIBED IN ME with a boldness to even die for You?? Oh God... help me!
