God Provides

Marsha Kochi

Scripture

Acts 7:9 “And the patriarchs, jealous of Joseph, sold him into Egypt; but God was with him 10 and rescued him out of all his afflictions and gave him favor and wisdom before Pharaoh, king of Egypt, who made him ruler over Egypt and over all his household. 11 Now there came a famine throughout all Egypt and Canaan, and great affliction, and our fathers could find no food. 12 But when Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent out our fathers on their first visit. 13 And on the second visit Joseph made himself known to his brothers, and Joseph's family became known to Pharaoh.

Observation

Sold to Egypt, approved by Pharaoh, unrecognized by his brothers, Joseph would have favor and wisdom from God. Joseph would provide grain for Egypt as well as for his father and brothers. He would do this as a ruler, and meet them as their brother Joseph, on their second visit.

Application

This example of God's plan, regardless of what situation you are in, proves His great love for us.
I am reminded of how much He loves me, and how He is able to redeem all situations. I see many families that are broken and it almost seems impossible for anything good to happen because of mistrust, and all that has been lost. I cannot help but to be amazed at how God can turn any situation, to accomplish His Will. If I let Him, and cooperate with what He is instructing me to do, He will guide me out of my circumstances. He gives me hope and joy, as I see His Handprints all over my problem.

Prayer

Thank you Lord, for all that You are teaching me as I read Your Word. I can see many times where I was not obedient as I looked at my problems, and did not allow You to work my circumstances out, Your way. What is most difficult for me to understand is how easy it is to focus on my situation, and forget that I have an everlasting God that sees better than I do, and knows me better than I know myself. Help me to focus on Your Presence, Your Will, and Your Strength; not on my problem.
