Faith As A Child

John Tilton

Scripture

Mark 10:13-16

People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.

Observation

I’ve often heard the phrase “faith as a child.” This phrase rings forth for me as I read these scriptures about how Jesus made the statement of receiving the kingdom of God like a child.

Application

Children are indeed impressionable and sponges, soaking up much of what they observe. If we are believers of Jesus Christ and have knowledge of all that has transpired through Him, like children, we need not doubt question and be hesitant, but instead to have faith as a child and be blessed in accepting what a relationship and life in Christ is, faith and acceptance. We tending to be like a doubting Thomas rather then standing on the Word of God and therefore like a child accepting His truths and precepts. I do find myself questioning and doubting things that transpire in my life. However, when I read these scriptures and recall the miracles, truth and Gospel of Jesus Christ, I can indeed have faith like a child.

Prayer

Dear Jesus, thank you for the confidence that is found in you that enables me to have the faith of a child in knowing and trusting in you.
