His Purity Process

John Tilton

Scripture

Malachi 3:1-3

“I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come,” says the Lord Almighty. But who can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand when he appears? For he will be like a refiner’s fire or a launderer’s soap. He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver.

Observation

It is wonderfully true and worthy of rejoicing knowing that Jesus Christ was sent by the Lord to die for our sins, and also to be the catalyst and agent to refine is toward purity for the Lord, whether it be through a refiner’s fire or a launderer’s soap that would take us through a process of refinement toward God’s will and call for purity according to His Word. His Word continues to be alive today to teach us His ways and will of refinement. As the impurities are separated from gold and silver by the refiner’s fire, so to, the things of the world and sin can be separated from our lives by God’s Word and ways, meant to teach and grow us.

Application

I will often look at challenges in my life with a victim mentality, yet through God’s Word and scriptures, I am reminded that what often seems like life’s challenges is often the refiner’s fire or launderer’s soap meant to refine and grow me in the ways of the Lord. My ability as the Word says to stand up and endure the process is my intentional will to follow in obedience based on being a fighter rather then a victim, and seeing with the right perception, God’s will for me to go through the fire or the washing.

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank you for reminding me of your process of purity that will enable me to go through the fires and washes of life, that I may grow in your will and ways toward the purity according to your Word. May I find the strength and perseverance to fight the fight and not be a victim or prisoner of war against the principalities of the devil and sin.
