Please Don't Fall

Calvin Kochi

Scripture

42“If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them if a large millstone were hung around their neck and they were thrown into the sea Mark 9:42

Observation

Here Jesus reminds the disciple’s the importance of their roles, and how important it is to make sure that your words and actions don’t cause fellow believer to stumble. We can be mistaken by thinking that Jesus is referring only to young children, but he clarifies it by saying those who believe in me.

Application

As I read this this thought came to my mind. What are you doing to uphold your brothers and sisters in Christ, and what are you doing to uphold the name of Jesus. Are you making Jesus to be known? Our words and actions are vital to our faith. The reason some non-believer don’t come to Christ is because of that very reason. How do you expect me to believe in God when I watch the actions and the things that Christians say and do and you want me to come to church. If we are living that way outside of church how well we live inside the church, and if I’m causing people outside the church I will eventually cause those inside the church to stumble especially because the role that I have. That is why it is so important for me to live a lifestyle that is accountable to people as well as the Lord. “Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again? I want to make sure I don’t lose my saltiness.

Prayer

Thank you for reminding me how important it is to live a lifestyle that is genuine. People are watching Christians as well as non-Christians the last thing that I would want to do is to cause them to stumble. I don’t want to be one that has lost his saltiness.
