Eternal Perspective

Richard Waialeale

Scripture

Revelation 21:5 (NIV)

5 He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true."

Observation

When the Bible says to John, write this down, it’s showing me something important and that I must change my perspective from a human stand point to an eternal perspective. In this world, I will witness destruction, civil wars - people injuring people, natural disasters, we are in the end times. And it’s easy to get caught up in all of this and see it from a human perspective and question God - why this or why that?

Application

When I’m feeling discouraged and my life seems to be falling apart, everything around me is crashing in. I must go back to the Word of God, and the Bible says in Revelation 21:3-4 (NIV)

3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.

4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

In the end - we win. God is faithful. I must keep my eyes on Jesus by staying focused in God’s Word, because it gives me the eternal perspective. Jesus will take hold of my hand and walk me through this when I see things from an eternal perspective, He will never let me go. I have eternity wrapped up, and there’s people that don’t have eternity. Change the way I see things and the way I do things. My job is to point the way and to clear the path so others can see.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I pray that when it all comes to a head, whether struggling in marriage, unforgiveness, anger, relationships, friendships – I need to get it together, now. It’s not about end times events, so that I start to chart it. It’s about having an eternal perspective of God’s promises for those who have hope and believe in Him.
