Where shall we stand?

Ken Silva

Scripture

Revelations 3: 15I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

Observation

This scripture speaking to the Church in Laodicea about the “lukewarm” way they pursued their religion and followed their God. It is a rebuke to the Church, ministers and people that they must choose to be either followers of Christ or not. They either choose to follow him with all their hearts or reject him completely. Verse 16 clearly states that those that are “on the fence” about their belief in Christ will be rejected. You’re either all in, or you’re in the way.

Application

We see examples of that everyday on TV, in the paper, even in Churches. Many are preoccupied with saying what is deemed “politically correct”, not wanting to offend anyone. We see that happening with sensitive issues like Same Sex Marriage. It is clearly in violation of God’s Word but many choose to remain silent (path of least resistance = lukewarm). We love the person but not the sin. Some Churches have chosen to embrace this issue, rationalizing their stance and compromising what the Bible says. Pastor Wayne calls this “eloquent deception”. As difficult as it is at times we must choose where to stand. We are either for God or not. “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”.

Prayer

Dear Lord help me to be bold in my faith, that no one question my devotion to you. These times are troubling but you are with me. Help me to example to others the love you have so freely given to me. Amen.
