Anchor My Faith

Calvin Kochi

Scripture

5The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. 6And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. 7If you worship me, it will all be yours.” 8Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only. Luke 4:5-8

Observation

The devil uses whatever scheme’s he can to distract us from or God given assignments and roles. Here we see the devil trying to offer Jesus something that has already been given to Him. The Father gave Jesus all authority and power. What the devil wanted was Jesus worship, and for Jesus that in not an option. He had already established His Worship to the Father and it was non-negotiable.

Application

The devil is referred to as a roaring lion.He is looking for those that he can prey on. He is looking for weaknesses that he can take advantage of. That is why spending time with the Lord in devotions are so vauleable. If we know what is written if we know what Gods Word says the devil can’t take advantage of us. In Ephesians it says put on the full armor of Gods so that we can stand against the devil. Stand in the truth, and for the truth is so important especially in a world that values are constantly shifting. What is even sadder is that we as Christians are compromising Gods Word therefore how can we stand strong and united. I am challenged to anchor myself deeper in to the truth of Gods Word and allow Gods word to search me to live in the truth and not compromise.

Prayer

Thank you Jesus for setting the greatest example to follow. Help me to walk in the light as you walk in the light. Allow your Word to anchor my faith.
