To Love Beyond

Marsha Kochi

Scripture

1 Thessalonians 4: 9 Now as to the love of the brethren, you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another; 10 for indeed you do practice it toward all the brethren who are in all Macedonia. But we urge you, brethren, to excel still more,

Observation

Paul is speaking to the Thessalonians, as we are taught today, to increase our love for one another, to love outside our normal areas, outside our comfort. Not only is he asking that they love those in Macedonia, but outside their city and culture.

Application

The Holy Spirit has truly written on the hearts of the people in Japan that we visited; to love. As Christians, we should love all people, those in your ministry, and those that are afar. To love above and beyond. As we were privileged to partner with our brothers and sisters in Japan, we were blessed to witness this kind of love. The culture, language barrier or beliefs, could not hinder this kind of love from coming through.

Prayer

Father, I pray that I will always love above and beyond. To love people with a heart that is not hindered by insecurities, problems, or differences. Thank You Lord for Your love and grace, and the opportunities that you give to us to love one another.
