Scripture

Mark 2:17 (NIV)

17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

Observation

What kind of impact will I make for Jesus when surrounded by people of this world. Jesus in the book of Mark is at the beginning of His ministry, and making a huge statement and impacting people wherever He goes. In this part of chapter two, He answers the criticism with yet another insightful, powerful statement. How does He do this?

Application

Several things I notice about the early ministry of Jesus that I can apply to my walk with Him. He was baptized and this pleased God (1:9-11); Jesus was then led by the Spirit (1:12-13); He was confident when He spoke (1:22 & 27); and Jesus prayed (1:35). When ministering in this society, do not conform to the world but be transform by the renewing of (your)my mind, and what Jesus has planted in me. I become more like Jesus. If I want to impact those around me, then I need to do it like Jesus.

Prayer

Thank you Lord for the ministry of Jesus that teaches me to walk and talk like Him. Thank you for the opportunity to point people to Christ and to clear the path. I need to first be like Him before I can expect anyone to follow the image of Jesus. Amen.
