Do you Fit or Are you called?

In any relationship; marriage, work, church, we often struggle with our fit or fitting in, especially over time when we encounter tests and struggles. In our gift based, western culture where we passionately teach that we should “fit” our gifts, strengths and passions to our liking and advantage. There’s a fine line of what’s good for me and what’s good for God. I believe He’s created and gifted us to operate in our strengths, gifts and passions. I also believe that God calls us to do His will to develop us, our character, life, calling (inclusive of our gifts, passions, etc).

So what if I “don’t fit or am not fitting in?” Who should I question? My surroundings? My leaderships inability to fit me in according to my strengths? My character development through a struggle? Maybe I should question my heart’s calling and reaffirm God’s will for my life?

Tips:

  1. Don’t make a decision to transition when you are struggling with a difficult situation, person, yourself and even God.
  2. Review your original God-assignment where you are at.
  3. Reaffirm God’s call, direction and instruction.
  4. Dig into God’s Word, prayer and discipleship with a mentor, to receive Godly counsel.
  5. Look for ways to improve your life while you are wrestling with your self, fit and calling.
