I was praying with a couple of brothers, interceding for our church, our leaders, our ministries – that there would be a spirit of unity with the bond of peace and love. We earnestly sought the Lord, with an urgency in our hearts to be a people who demonstrates Jesus love powered by the Holy Spirit.
That’s it…powered by the Holy Spirit! The Holy Spirit is the God of our hearts. It is He who has filled our hearts with Christ love and apart from His leadership and initiative, I am doomed!
Leaders must allow the Holy Spirit to lead their hearts, fill their hearts and empower their hearts! We find ourselves as leaders, many times leading our own hearts and not relying on the Holy Spirit’s power and presence to fill and lead us.
How do I yield my heart to His leadership?
Take time to be with God in prayer. Get on your knees. Fix your mind on thanking and worshiping Jesus – not just asking Him to “do things” for us.
Get together with a few others who are like minded and hearted to pray, worship and intercede. If you’ve been baptized in the Holy Spirit and have the gift of tongues – pray in your spiritual language often. If you don’t have the gift of tongues – learn about the Holy Spirit and this gift. It will open new dimensions and deepen your relationship with God. Desire purity in your heart, repent of things in your life and heart as He surfaces any dross. But be careful to focus on who God is, His work, His character – don’t turn your prayer time into a “me-focused” time. Grow in love with the Father’s character. Acknowledge Jesus and the Holy Spirit’s character and person – attribute praise for their Person and personality! Be a giver of your heart, life to Him. Think about Him often…all the day long!
Let’s be Godly leaders by allowing the Holy Spirit to be our heart leader.
