As I was running midday, the heat scorching, the pavement on fire, each stride felt like my muscles were deteriorating. I was only on my 3rd mile, but the hills seem to be winning over my resistance.
As other times when I’ve felt this way, I told myself, “This is a mind game! I’m exhausted, drained and over heating, but I will not be overcome!” I began thinking of the people I’ve been ministering to who have cancer, on their death bed, the financial despair that some are in, the relationship wounds because of infidelity or abuse – the list of exhausted, drained and hurting people seem endless.
Here’s the part of the answer. We have to realize that the circumstances, situations, people around us do not define the outcome of our lives. The attitude and decision to overcome the battle within ourselves, is the one we need to win. Relationships, finances, health battles are not the ones we need to “win.” The battle we need to win lay between our 2 ears – our mind!
Isaiah 26:3
You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
