Slow down while living fast
Categories: Journals, Relationships

Last week, through the weekend, was filled with eventful, meaningful and difficult ministry. From wedding counsel appointments, to ministry planning meetings, preparing for a weekend message, one on one appointments, mentoring sessions, writing an article for a magazine, participating in a great high school clean up with 299 or so other servants, to visiting a friend whose body is being tortured by cancer, and then being called to be with a wife whose husband had suddenly, unexpectedly passed away – and there’s more!

My lesson – was the pressing, gentle touch of God on my heart to slow down in anxiousness and worry while speeding ahead to fulfill all the needed ministry placed before me. Not slowing my pace down in thought and heart cost me a few things. I found myself snappy and short fused with those I loved most. I rushed to one appointment to discover the location had changed – but I didn’t take time to read my calendar well.

I’m thankful for the pace – the race God has called me to run. But I must be sure to slow down in heart, ponder Jesus, be sure I’m listening to and intimately living with Him.
