I helped a friend dig a trench! Not too hard…but the challenge? The bamboo roots among rocks was horrendous! There were so many roots that I couldn’t even use a shovel to dig. I had to start of using an axe! These roots were thick and plentiful and it took an axe to chop through 4-6 inches before I hit dirt!

Although these roots were not evil, they did hamper the trench project. Besides the blisters, sweat that could fill a 5 gallon bucket and a sore back and muscles, I gained wisdom. From one bamboo shoot, grew 2, then 3, then 20, then 50, then 100, then…! From 1 person hurting us through gossip, cold shoulders or whatever it may be, could produce many poisonous roots that could destroy you and others around you.

Hebrews 12:15 Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.

My take home…Root up all evil attitudes in my heart. Help me Lord!!
