Scripture
1The word of the Lord came to Jonah son of Amittai: 2“Go to the great city of Ninevehand preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me.” 3But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the Lord. Jonah 1:1-
Observation
I can relate to Jonah. There are times when the Lord asks you to do things that i want to say no way. There are times that I want to head in the other direction. There are other times that i can battle in my mind that couldn't be what God is asking me to do that and I buy a one way ticket so I don’t have to deal with it.
Application
Following God can be absolutely difficult because of the things that God asks us to do. He doesn’t always ask us to do the easy things, or the kind of things that I can quickly say yes Lord I’ll do that no problem. Like Jonah it is easier to want to go to Tarshish, or to do things that I want to do. There are times that it would be easier to even ignore His voice. God doesn’t give us thing to do without equipping us and giving us the strength in which to accomplish the task. In our Nineveh’s God builds and tests our character and faith. My Nineveh’s have been my best learning grounds it continues to test and build my faith.
Prayer
Thank you for reminding me that even when asked to do thing that cause me to want to do what I want to do. it is easier to obey you than to end up in the belly of a whale.
