Arenít we His Church?

Rod Shimabukuro

1Timothy 3:14 I hope to come to you soon, but I am writing these things to you so that,15 if I delay, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, a pillar and buttress of the truth.

The instruction of the characteristics, role and expectations of elders and deacons were needed for the young churches and spiritual leaders. After Paul describes what spiritual leadership should look and act like, he reinforces the characteristic of God’s Church.

  • We are the household of God!
  • We are the Church of the Living God!
  • We are the Pillar of Truth!
  • We are the Buttress of Truth!

Have I made spiritual decisions without sincere prayer? Have I made decisions without consulting deeply with God involving the discipline and correction of a sinful saint? Have I ever said one thing and done another? Have I ever “shared concerns I have of others” - in other words gossiped? Have I had motives to make myself look better than others by talking bigger about “what I’ve done” or what the “other person” should’ve done?

I know of others who have failed in all of the above categories...including me! I've said to "others" challenging spritual leadership..."Aren't we His Church?" - and God is asking me the same question!

Dear Spirit of the Living God! OUCH!
Please convict those “other people” - You know their names!!! But God - the arrows and fingers of Your hand are pointing my way. Forgive me, Cleanse me, purify my heart to transform me in mind, soul and life! Help Lord!!
