Ruthless Obedience

Rod Shimabukuro

Leviticus 24:23Then Moses spoke to the Israelites, and they took the blasphemer outside the camp and stoned him. The Israelites did as the Lord commanded Moses.

The overarching theme of God’s instructions to Moses continues to involve the “How to’s” of approaching and living in relationship to a holy God. There are rules and commands. Verse 23 lays within the context of people who blaspheme God and take the life of humans or animals. Severe repercussions are enforced on those who violate God’s commands through Moses.

I can also imagine that the obedience of Moses and those who actually inflicted this death penalty, must have been brave, loving people of God and HIs law! What Ruthless Obedience!

By the way - Happy Valentines Day Babe Beckie!

What a Valentine’s Day passage huh?! The Love and Holiness of God has high demands and expectation of His people! What I’m very grateful for is the obedience of Jesus, to live tenaciously as the Son of Man (human), perfectly as the Son of God! He expelled my sins; past, present and future. As a former blasphemer, Jesus has graced me with life and taken upon Himself the judgement of my sin! Freedom! What Holy and Loving God!

On the other hand, I’m glad to have brothers in my life, who love God and His Word more than they do me! If I violate the truth and life of God and His Word, they would call me out! Thanks God they wouldn’t stone me, I don’t think. But I’m thankful for their obedience to God, to obey God and not man!

I’m overwhelmed again! With Your love, mercy and pardon of my sins! And I’m also super grateful for Your grace through these brothers in my life. For their integrity, obedience and love for You! Thank You Lord God, for being my Judge - really! I’m grateful that You Judge me according to Your standards and that I’m not left to the judgement of man! I Love You Mega tons Jesus, Daddie and Spirit of God! I really Love You!
