Scrub Harder

Calvin Kochi

Scripture
9 The heart is deceitful above all things,
and desperately sick;
who can understand it? 10 “I the Lord search the heart
and test the mind,
to give every man according to his ways,
according to the fruit of his deeds.”Jeremiah 17:9-10
Observation
Who is it that can know hidden and selfish agendas of the heart? As human being we are good at hiding our true feeling and emotion, and because we stuff and hide thing it really affects the way we live. The fruits of lives are the by-product of the condition of the heart. Even when we pretend to be genuine and sincere God can see right through it. Only He can understand the things that are going on in our hearts. In fact He tests our heart and searches our thoughts to know where we really are.
Application
This verse is really helpful to me, because sometimes I don’t even know where my own thoughts and feeling are coming from. I can get into places that I question my own self where is that thought coming from, and why do I have to act that way. I know that I can have hidden agendas and personal desires that get it the way of the Lord. I let those thoughts and feelings stay to long and it can lead me down a destructive road. That is why it is so important to ask the Lord to search the heart. David a man after Gods own heart pleaded search me o God and see if there is anything in this heart that would cause me to stray and stumble and to hurt other, and lead in the direction that you want me to go. My own hearts condition can cause the greatest amount of damage if let go unchecked.
Prayer
Lord Jesus search me again and again because I want my heart and actions to reflect You. Scrub my motives and hidden agendas. I want your way to be my ways.
